Data Science, Data Engineering and Data Driven Businesses
Welcome to Data Driver by me, Charlie M.. Charlie M. is a pseudonym. He founded multiple startups and loves to solve tough problems. At the moment he works at an investment botique where he trains computers to make smart investment decisions. In his spare time he loves to spend time with his family and friends, write on this blog and program on open source projects and side-hustles.
He started programing Borland C++ when he was 14 years old, switched over to GNU C and C++ soon after. He did deep dives into network programming, the linux kernel and IT security. In his 20+ years of programming software systems, he picked up a couple of programming languages like Assembler, Fortran, C#, Java, JavaScript, OpenCL / Cuda, Python, Clojure, SQL, R and bash and technologies like run times (JVM, CLR, V8), machine learning / AI (sci-kit learn, tensorflow, R, …), big data (MongoDB, Hadoop, Datomic, …), relational databases (Postgres, SqlServer, MySQL), operating systems (Linux, Windows), web technologies (CSS, HTML, reactjs, …) docker, micro services, Azure and AWS. His technological expertise gave him the privilege to be one of the first data scientists, even before there was a job title for it.
He developed distributed systems for online predictions of vehicle flows within a city and build a startup around it. He exited after a well known automotive supplier invested in the company. He works for an asset management boutique developing AI systems to support and automate investment decision making and portfolio construction.
